androgen insensitivity syndrome
Androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) is a genetic condition where individuals with male sex chromosomes (XY) do not respond to androgens, which are the male sex hormones responsible for the development of male reproductive organs. This results in individuals with typically female external genitalia despite possessing male chromosomes.
