cannizzaro reaction
The Cannizzaro reaction is a chemical reaction in which an aldehyde molecule reacts with itself in the presence of a strong base, resulting in the simultaneous oxidation of one aldehyde molecule to a carboxylic acid and reduction of another aldehyde molecule to an alcohol.
