celestial navigation
Celestial navigation is the practice of using celestial bodies, such as stars, planets, and the sun, to determine one's position and direction on the Earth. By measuring the angles between these celestial bodies and the horizon, navigators can triangulate their position and navigate accurately across oceans and deserts.
