identity theft and personal data theft
Identity theft refers to when someone pretends to be another person by using their personal information without their knowledge or permission for financial gain or malicious purposes. Personal data theft, on the other hand, is the unauthorized acquisition of someone's sensitive and personal information, such as Social Security numbers, credit card details, or passwords, with the intention of using it for fraudulent activities or to compromise their privacy and security. Both of these acts involve the misuse and unauthorized access of personal information, but identity theft specifically involves impersonating the victim.
