maccabean revolt
The Maccabean revolt was a Jewish uprising that took place in the 2nd century BCE against the Seleucid Empire, led by the Maccabees, a family of Jewish priests. It resulted in the regaining of Jewish independence and the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
