ocean thermal energy conversion (otec)
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a sustainable energy technology that harnesses the temperature difference between warm surface waters and cold deep waters in the ocean to generate electricity. Through a system of pipes and turbines, the warm surface water heats a working fluid, which creates vapor pressure to rotate the turbines and produce electricity. This process not only provides a renewable source of power but also enables the utilization of the vast untapped thermal energy available in the ocean.
