REDD+ stands for "reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation." It is a global initiative aimed at slowing down and reversing the loss of forests, particularly in developing countries. By compensating countries financially for conserving and sustainably managing their forests, REDD+ aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve biodiversity, and support the livelihoods of local communities dependent on forests.
