runoff and water quality degradation
"Runoff refers to the excess water from rainfall or melting snow that does not get absorbed into the ground and flows over the surface, often carrying pollutants and contaminants with it. Water quality degradation refers to the deterioration of the overall quality of water bodies, such as rivers, lakes, or groundwater, due to the presence of pollutants, sediments, or other harmful substances that negatively impact the health of the aquatic ecosystem and human activities relying on clean water."
