selective quotation and misquoting

Selective quotation refers to the act of intentionally excluding certain parts of a source's statement or text while quoting, in order to manipulate or distort the original meaning or message. Misquoting, on the other hand, involves inaccurately reproducing or attributing words to someone that they did not actually say or write. Both practices distort the intended message, often giving a false representation of the original source.
