botnets and ddos attacks
Botnets: Botnets are networks of computers that are infected with malicious software, also known as bots or zombies. These compromised computers, often without the knowledge of their owners, are controlled by a central command and control server. Botnets are typically used for a variety of malicious activities, such as sending spam emails, spreading malware, launching DDoS attacks, or stealing sensitive information. DDoS Attacks: Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks occur when multiple compromised computers, often forming a botnet, flood a targeted website or online service with a massive amount of traffic until it becomes overwhelmed and unable to function properly. This flood of traffic exhausts the target's resources and hinders legitimate users from accessing the service, leading to service disruptions or complete downtime. DDoS attacks are aimed at disrupting the normal functioning of websites or services and causing inconvenience or financial losses to the targeted organizations.
