california cap-and-trade program
The California cap-and-trade program is a policy implemented by the state of California to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. It sets a limit on the total amount of emissions allowed from certain sectors, such as power plants and factories, and issues permits (known as allowances) for these emissions. Companies can buy and sell these allowances, creating a market-based system to incentivize companies to reduce their emissions or invest in cleaner technologies.
