chernobyl disaster
The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on April 26, 1986, at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. The explosion and subsequent fires caused a release of radioactive materials, contaminating the surrounding area and exposing many people to lethal doses of radiation. It is considered the worst nuclear disaster in history.
