fukushima nuclear disaster and radiation sickness

The Fukushima nuclear disaster refers to the catastrophic event that occurred in 2011, when a massive earthquake and tsunami severely damaged the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan. As a result, multiple reactors experienced meltdowns, leading to the release of large amounts of radioactive materials into the environment. Radiation sickness, also known as acute radiation syndrome (ARS), is the illness caused by exposure to high levels of ionizing radiation. It occurs when the body is exposed to a significant amount of radiation over a short period of time. Symptoms of radiation sickness can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin burns, hair loss, and in severe cases, organ failure or death.
