Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder caused by abnormal proteins called prions that damage the brain and nervous system, leading to rapid cognitive decline, involuntary muscle movements, and eventual loss of coordination and bodily functions.
