depleted uranium shells in the gulf war
Depleted uranium shells were munitions used in the Gulf War that contained a type of metal called depleted uranium, which is a byproduct of nuclear fuel production. When fired, these shells could penetrate armored targets with great ease, but they also released harmful radioactive particles into the air that could cause health problems for soldiers and civilians exposed to them.
