gamma-ray bursts
Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are extremely high-energy flashes of gamma rays that occur randomly in space and last only for a few milliseconds to a few minutes. They are the most powerful explosions known in the universe, releasing massive amounts of energy in a short amount of time. While the exact cause of GRBs is not yet fully understood, they are believed to be associated with the death of massive stars or the collision of neutron stars.
