non-reductive supervenience
Non-reductive supervenience refers to a relationship between two levels of phenomena, where the higher-level properties are dependent on the lower-level properties but cannot be fully explained or reduced to them. In other words, the mental or conscious aspects of a system (such as thoughts, experiences, or emotions) emerge from and depend on the physical or biological aspects (such as brain activity), but they cannot be completely understood solely by analyzing or describing the lower-level properties.
