perception and representation
Perception refers to the process by which we interpret and make sense of sensory information from our environment, including sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. It involves the brain and the senses working together to create an understanding of the world around us. Representation, on the other hand, involves the mental and cognitive processes through which we internally create and store our perceptions. It is the way we mentally organize and categorize our perceptions, allowing us to recall and remember them later. Representations can be in the form of mental images, concepts, symbols, or ideas.
