quadrupole mass analyzer
A quadrupole mass analyzer is a type of instrument used in mass spectrometry to separate and measure the mass-to-charge ratios of ions. It consists of four parallel metal rods arranged in a square configuration and applies alternating electric fields to selectively allow ions of a specific mass-to-charge ratio to pass through, while filtering out others.
