tu quoque (appeal to hypocrisy)
Tu quoque, or the appeal to hypocrisy, is a logical fallacy where instead of addressing an argument or accusation directly, one attempts to discredit it by pointing out the opponent's failure to abide by the same argument or accusation. It wrongly assumes that inconsistency undermines the validity of the argument.
