utilitarianism and moral dilemmas
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that judges the morality of an action based on its overall utility or the amount of happiness it produces for the greatest number of people. Moral dilemmas, on the other hand, refer to situations in which a person faces a difficult choice between two or more conflicting ethical principles or actions, where each alternative presents potential harm to some individuals.
