age-related macular degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye condition that primarily affects older adults, causing progressive damage to the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, central vision. It can result in a loss of visual acuity, making it difficult to accomplish common daily tasks such as reading or driving.
