allergies and autoimmunity
Allergies and autoimmunity are medical conditions where the body's immune system reacts inappropriately. Allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to harmless substances, such as pollen or food. Autoimmunity refers to when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own cells and tissues. Both conditions involve immune system dysfunction but differ in the triggering factors and targeted cells.
