empathy and sympathy
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, experiencing their emotions as if they were our own. Sympathy, on the other hand, involves acknowledging someone else's suffering and showing compassion, care, and concern for their well-being without necessarily experiencing their emotions directly.
