radiation sickness
Radiation sickness is a potentially fatal condition that occurs when a person is exposed to high levels of ionizing radiation. This radiation damages and kills cells in the body, particularly those in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract, and immune system, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and dehydration. In severe cases, radiation sickness can cause permanent damage to organs and tissues, as well as increase the risk of developing certain cancers.
