sglt-2 inhibitors
SGLT-2 inhibitors, also known as sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors, are a class of medications used to treat type 2 diabetes. They work by blocking the action of a protein called SGLT-2 in the kidneys, which reduces the reabsorption of glucose and leads to increased excretion of sugar in the urine. This mechanism helps lower blood sugar levels and may also lead to modest weight loss.
