treaty of alcacovas
The Treaty of Alcáçovas was an agreement signed in 1479 between the kingdoms of Castile and Portugal. It ended the long-standing conflicts over territorial control and recognized Portugal's independence and sovereignty. The treaty established the division of territories between the two kingdoms and brought a period of peace and stability to the Iberian Peninsula.
