The Treaty of Granada was an agreement signed in 1491 between the Catholic Monarchs of Spain and the last Muslim Emirate of Granada, which brought an end to the 780-year Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula. The treaty allowed the Muslim population to continue practicing their religion and preserved their legal, cultural, and economic rights in exchange for surrendering control of Granada to the Spanish Crown.
