cultural relativism and cultural appropriation

Cultural relativism refers to the belief that all cultural beliefs, values, and practices are valid and should be understood and evaluated within their own cultural context. It emphasizes that judgments about right and wrong, good and bad, should not be applied universally but rather should be relative to a particular culture. Cultural appropriation, on the other hand, refers to the borrowing, adoption, or imitation of elements from another culture by members of a different culture, often without understanding or respecting its meaning or significance. It can involve using or displaying clothing, music, art, religious symbols, or other cultural expressions without proper acknowledgement or sensitivity towards the cultural group from which they originated.
