diabetic ketoacidotic coma
A diabetic ketoacidotic coma is a severe and potentially life-threatening condition that can occur in people with diabetes. It is caused by a dangerous buildup of ketones, which are acidic byproducts of the body breaking down fat for energy in the absence of sufficient insulin. This leads to dangerously high blood sugar levels, dehydration, extreme fatigue, altered mental state, and can ultimately result in a coma if left untreated.
