tariq ibn ziyad

Tariq ibn Ziyad was a Muslim military commander who led the Islamic conquest of the Iberian Peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal) in the 8th century. He is best known for his victorious battle at the Rock of Gibraltar in 711 AD, which marked the beginning of Muslim rule in the region.
